Nora Häuptle has been appointed as the head coach of Zambia’s senior women’s national football team, the Copper Queens, AfricaSoccer.com understands
The 41-year-old signed a two-year contract with the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ).
The Swiss coach served as head coach of Ghana’s senior women’s national team, the Black Queens, following her appointment in 2023 by the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
She succeeded Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo, who had led the team since 2019.
During her tenure with the Black Queens, Häuptle achieved notable success, guiding the team to qualify for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) and securing victory at the 2023 WAFU Zone B Women’s Cup.
Under her leadership, the Black Queens displayed significant improvement, including a strong performance in the Women’s Olympic qualifiers, where she missed out narrowly to Zambia.
Despite being offered a contract extension by the GFA, Häuptle opted not to renew and has now transitioned to leading the Copper Queens.
According to sources, the FAZ Executive Committee convened to finalize her appointment following the dismissal of former head coach Bruce Mwape.
Nora Häuptle is expected to be unveiled next week with a monthly salary of $7,000.
Prior to her role with the Black Queens, Häuptle served as a technical advisor for Ghana’s U-20 women’s team during the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica.
