The Ligue 1 Mobilis disciplinary committee has handed down severe penalties to MC El Bayadh and MC Oran following violent clashes during their recent championship match.
After reviewing the incidents that erupted at halftime at Zakaria Medjdoub Stadium, the committee announced on Monday a 4-match suspension behind closed doors for both teams’ stadiums. Additionally, fans of the two clubs are now banned from traveling with their teams indefinitely—a stark measure underscoring the severity of the scuffles.
The penalties don’t stop there. Both MC El Bayadh (MCEB) and MC Oran (MCO) face a hefty fine of 400,000 dinars and are also tasked with covering the cost of the damages inflicted on the stadium during the unrest.
The clashes, sparked by a confrontation between local supporters and visiting fans, resulted in multiple injuries on both sides. These firm sanctions serve as a stern warning to clubs and their supporters to foster better crowd management and ensure safety at league matches.
