CAF Champions League: RS Berkane and Orlando Pirates set for fierce Group C battle
RS Berkane have been paired in Group C in the 2026/27 CAF Champions League following the draw in Cairo on Wednesday.
The Moroccan outfit will battle it out with South African football powerhouse, Orlando Pirates, Tanzania giants, Simba SC and Cameroon’s Colombe Sportive, who made history by securing a spot in the group stage for the first time.
The draw has set up a competitive group, bringing together four clubs determined to secure qualification for the knockout stages of Africa’s premier club competition.
RS Berkane will be aiming to make a strong impression as they take on opponents from across the continent. The Moroccan outfit will look to utilise their experience in African competitions to navigate the group and strengthen their chances of progressing to the next round.
However, Simba SC are expected to provide a stern test for the Moroccan side. The Tanzanian club will be eager to demonstrate their quality and compete for one of the qualification spots as they pursue a successful continental campaign.
Orlando Pirates will also enter the group with ambitions of advancing to the knockout stages. The South African giants possess considerable experience in African club football and will be determined to make their presence felt against their three opponents.
Meanwhile, Cameroon’s Colombe Sportive complete the group and will be hoping to challenge the more established names. The club will view the competition as an opportunity to showcase their quality and make a strong statement on the continental stage.
With four teams battling for qualification, consistency will be crucial throughout the group stage. Every match could have a significant impact on the standings, leaving little room for dropped points as the campaign progresses.
The opening matches are scheduled for November 27–29, 2026, with matchday two set for December 4–6. The third round will take place from December 18–20 before the competition resumes in January.
Matchday four is scheduled for January 8–10, followed by the fifth round from January 15–17. The group stage will conclude between January 22 and 24, 2027.
All four clubs will be targeting a positive start as they pursue a place in the knockout stages and continue their quest for the CAF Champions League crown.
