Ernest Nuamah was on target as Lyon triumphed 3-2 over Eintracht Frankfurt in an intense Europa League Round 6 encounter at Groupama Stadium.
The Ghanaian winger played a pivotal role, scoring a stunning goal in the 54th minute to give Lyon a 3-1 lead.
Frankfurt drew first blood in the 18th minute when Ansgar Knauff capitalized on a defensive error to give the visitors the lead. Lyon responded in the 27th minute through a deflected shot from Rayan Cherki, leveling the scores at 1-1.
Malick Fofana put Lyon ahead early in the second half, scoring from Cherki’s assist in the 50th minute. Just four minutes later, Nuamah made his mark, cutting inside to fire a powerful shot into the top corner, putting Lyon in control at 3-1.
Frankfurt wasn’t done yet, though, as Omar Marmoush pulled one back in the 85th minute, making it 3-2. Despite a late surge from Frankfurt, Lyon held on to secure the win.
Lyon now turns their attention to a crucial Ligue 1 clash against PSG on December 15th.
