Premier League giants Chelsea are close to agreeing terms with Ghanaian defender Josh Acheampong over contract extension at the club.
Acheampong’s current contract with the Blues will elapse in the summer of 2026. Initially, the 18-year-old was unwilling to extend his contract with the club.
But reports emerging suggests both parties are almost closed to reaching an agreement over extension.
Speaking ahead of Astana clash, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca said, “With Josh it’s quite clear. We all love Josh. The club loves Josh. I love Josh. And we are trying to find an agreement with the players. We are close. We are almost there.”
Acheampong was initially frozen out of Chelsea’s team due to his unwillingness to extend his stay at the club.
The defender, who had not played a competitive game for the Blues since September 2024 has finally been recalled for the Europa Conference League game against FC Astana on Thursday.
