Ghana international Inaki Williams has eulogized Athletic Bilbao’s overall performance following victory over Fenerbahce in the UEFA Europa League.
The Black Stars forward lasted 85 minutes as the Spanish outfit cruised to a 2-0 victory over Fenerbahce at the Şükrü Saracoğlu Spor Kompleksi on Wednesday.
Williams scored twice in the first half of the much-anticipated encounter to help his outfit snatch maximum points.
“The truth is that coming to Turkey and getting this result is very positive for us. We are happy that thousands of fans joined and we hope that you have enjoyed today…because it has been tough. It couldn’t work out better. I think that in the end, going 2-0 up always weakens the opposing team.”
“We knew that coming here to Turkey was going to be complicated. “I think the team has played a great game in general.”
The former Spain international opened the scoring for Bilbao after just five minutes into the match, connecting from Gorka Guruzeta’s pass.
In the 45th-minute mark, the highly-rated Ghanaian attacker found the net to seal victory for the Spanish club.
Williams has racked up four goals after six matches into the Champions League this season.
The 30-year-old has made 22 appearances, scoring eight goals and providing four assists across competitions.
