Daniel Ogunmodede, assistant coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, has expressed unwavering confidence in his team’s readiness as they gear up for their African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier against Ghana’s Black Galaxies.

The highly anticipated showdown offers Nigeria a significant opportunity to reclaim their dominance following previous setbacks against their West African rivals.

“We are not thinking about the past, what is important now is the present and also looking at the future,” Ogunmodede stated, emphasizing the team’s focus.

We all know what is at stake including the players.

We are giants of Africa, we know what it means to us to play at the CHAN.

Ghana will have the confidence they knocked us out twice in the past. I think things will be different this time around.

The stakes could not be higher, as both nations compete for a coveted spot in the next CHAN tournament, set to be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.

The rivalry between the two teams has intensified following Nigeria’s narrow miss in their previous encounter with Ghana, which saw the Super Eagles fall short of qualifying for the tournament in Algeria.

This history only adds to the pressure and significance of the upcoming clash.

Ogunmodede also provided insights into the meticulous selection process behind the squad.

Everybody deserves a chance here; we are all privileged to be here.

In my opinion, every time you have a first XI, there will always be a player complaining, same thing with this scenario,” he remarked.

We have to call 30 players among the large numbers in the league; they all deserve to be here.

The inclusion process highlights the depth of talent within the Nigerian league and underscores the coaching team’s commitment to fielding the best possible lineup.

The home-based Super Eagles have been intensifying their preparations with a series of friendly matches.

Their recent 5-1 triumph over Emmydinho Academy showcased their attacking potential and teamwork.

Forward Sikiru Alimi of Remo Stars led the charge with an impressive hat-trick, while Vincent Temitope and Samuel Ayanrinde also contributed to the scoreline.

This dominant performance has bolstered the team’s morale and provided a glimpse of their capabilities heading into the crucial qualifier.

Ogunmodede’s confidence in his squad underscores Nigeria’s determination to make a resounding statement in their CHAN campaign.

With a blend of strategy, skill, and resilience, the Super Eagles aim to overcome their Ghanaian rivals and secure their place in the tournament.

As preparations intensify, fans and analysts alike eagerly await the encounter that could reshape the Super Eagles’ reputation in African football.
