Al-Ahly open to selling Reda Selim amid transfer interest
Egyptian giants Al-Ahly are reportedly considering parting ways with Moroccan winger Reda Selim during the upcoming January transfer window.
The decision follows his limited role under Swiss coach Marcel Koller, raising questions about his future with the “Red Genie.”
A source within the club disclosed that a Qatari side has expressed interest in acquiring Selim to bolster their squad for the second half of the season.
Al-Ahly is open to a permanent transfer and is awaiting an official offer that matches the club’s financial expectations.
Selim, who joined Al-Ahly from Morocco’s Royal Army Club for a reported fee of $2 million, has struggled to make a significant impact since his arrival.
His appearances have been sporadic, leading to speculation about his role within the squad.
The club’s technical staff, led by Koller, is keen to strengthen the right-wing position and add a versatile striker during the winter transfer window.
These moves are seen as part of Al-Ahly’s preparations for domestic, African, and international competitions.
Despite the excitement surrounding Selim’s signing, his minimal contribution has prompted Al-Ahly to reconsider their investment.
The club is now focused on securing reinforcements that align with Koller’s tactical vision and the team’s ambitious objectives.
Al-Ahly fans and analysts are closely monitoring the situation, with many eager to see how the club manages its squad restructuring efforts in January.
