Fulham secured a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur in a Premier League clash on Sunday, with Alex Iwobi providing a pivotal assist to earn his side a point.
Iwobi, showcasing his creative prowess, set up Tom Cairney for the equalizer in the 67th minute after Spurs had taken the lead through Brennan Johnson’s composed finish.
This assist marked Iwobi’s third of the season in 13 league appearances, equaling his best-ever start to a Premier League campaign.
The Super Eagles midfielder was a standout performer throughout, nearly scoring in the 52nd minute when his rebound effort was denied by an excellent save from Spurs goalkeeper Fraser Forster.
Fulham defender Calvin Bassey also contributed significantly, completing the full 90 minutes.
Spurs capitalized on Fulham’s missed chances just minutes after Iwobi’s attempt, with Johnson finishing off a precise Timo Werner cross to open the scoring.
Fulham’s resilience shone through, however, as Iwobi’s inch-perfect pass allowed Cairney to calmly slot the ball into the bottom corner.
Fulham’s hopes for a late victory were dashed when Cairney received a red card, forcing the visitors to defend with 10 men in the closing stages.
Despite this setback, they managed to hold on for a valuable point.
Iwobi’s season now boasts six goal contributions, with three goals and three assists, underscoring his growing influence in Fulham’s attacking setup.
Meanwhile, in the Belgian Pro League, Tolu Arokodare scored his 10th goal of the season as KRC Genk drew 2-2 with Sint-Truidense.
Arokodare opened the scoring in the 26th minute and remains among the league’s top scorers, sharing the spotlight with Adriano Bertaccini and Kasper Dolberg.
Genk retained their position at the summit of the league table, showcasing their determination in the face of a challenging campaign.
