Turkish media has shone a spotlight on Moroccan internationals Youssef En-Nesyri and Hakim Ziyech, highlighting their contrasting journeys at Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray this season.
Fenerbahçe has reportedly rejected a €32 million offer from a Saudi Arabian club for striker En-Nesyri.
According to the Turkish outlet Istiklal, manager José Mourinho was firm in his decision to keep the 27-year-old forward, who has emerged as a key figure for the Istanbul side.
After a challenging start, En-Nesyri has found his stride, scoring eight goals in his last nine appearances across all competitions.
His latest contribution came in Fenerbahçe’s Europa League clash against Slavia Prague, where his decisive goal secured a 2-1 victory.
With this resurgence in form, the Moroccan striker has solidified his place as a pivotal part of Mourinho’s plans.
Ziyech’s High Salary Amid Limited Playing Time
Meanwhile, at rival club Galatasaray, Hakim Ziyech’s tenure has been less productive on the pitch but remains notable off it.
Since joining the Istanbul side, the 30-year-old midfielder has struggled for consistent playing time, featuring in just nine matches this season and recording a single assist.
Despite his limited contributions, Ziyech is one of the club’s highest earners. According to Sportune, which cites Turkish media, the Moroccan playmaker commands an annual salary of €4.5 million, ranking him third in Galatasaray’s wage hierarchy.
Only marquee players Victor Osimhen and Mauro Icardi, both earning €6 million per year, surpass him.
While Ziyech has yet to hit his stride, Galatasaray continues to impress.
The club is currently unbeaten in all major competitions this season, boasting a 16-match undefeated streak that includes 12 victories in the Süper Lig and four in the Europa League.
A Tale of Two Lions
The contrasting narratives of En-Nesyri and Ziyech highlight their differing impacts in Turkish football.
En-Nesyri’s scoring resurgence has made him indispensable to Fenerbahçe, while Ziyech’s off-field stature contrasts sharply with his on-field struggles.
As the season progresses, both players will aim to further establish their legacies in Turkish football.
For now, the Istanbul giants remain steadfast in their commitment to the Moroccan stars, despite the challenges and opportunities each presents.
