The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed that all football competitions under its jurisdiction will take a one-week break to accommodate the national General Elections on December 7, 2024. This decision impacts several key leagues, including the Ghana Premier League, the Access Bank Division One League, the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League, and other domestic competitions.
In line with the GFA’s calendar for the 2024/25 season, the break will begin after this weekend’s scheduled matches, with fixtures including the MTN FA Cup Round of 64 and Matchday 6 of the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League.
All competitions are set to resume on December 13, 2024.
This temporary pause will allow players, coaches, and officials to participate in the elections and fulfill their civic duties.
The GFA has already communicated this fixture break to the respective clubs and match officials, with this announcement serving as a formal reminder.
The association has also encouraged all football stakeholders and citizens to engage in the electoral process peacefully, wishing the country a smooth and successful election.
