GPL week twelve roundup: Kotoko end winless streak, Hearts of Oak held by Nsoatreman

Karela United

As the Ghana Premier League (GPL) entered its twelfth round of fixtures, Asante Kotoko secured a crucial 2-0 victory over Aduana Stars, putting an end to their four-game winless run. The Porcupine Warriors earned the three points at Nana Agyemang Badu II Park, with goals from Patrick Asiedu and Albert Amoah. The win was met with relief by the club’s supporters, many of whom had expressed frustration with head coach Prosper Ogum Narteh’s tenure amid recent struggles.

In another key match, Hearts of Oak failed to extend their winning streak to four games, drawing 1-1 with Nsoatreman FC at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

The match saw Samuel Adams score for Hearts of Oak, while Seidu Diyou found the net for Nsoatreman.

Elsewhere, Bechem United secured a 1-0 win over Accra Lions, with Samuel Prempeh scoring the match’s only goal.

Hearts of Lions delivered a dominant 3-0 performance against Legon Cities, with goals from Kojo Obeng, Nana Oppong, and Michael Yakubu.

In other results, GoldStars triumphed 2-0 over Vision FC, and Medeama SC beat Young Apostles 2-0, thanks to goals from David Fordjour and Prince Owusu.

Meanwhile, HolyStars narrowly defeated Samartex 1-0, with Richard Salifu scoring the decisive goal.

Berekum Chelsea secured a 1-0 win over Nations FC, with Samuel Amankonah netting the only goal of the match.

Karela United also capitalized on Dreams FC’s poor form, handing them a 1-0 defeat at Tuba Astro Turf, with Nabil Ibrahim scoring the match-winner.

With the results, Kotoko’s victory takes them a step closer to regaining their form, while Nsoatreman’s draw against Hearts of Oak will bolster their confidence as they continue to push for mid-table safety in the league.
