TP Mazembe secured a dramatic 3-1 victory over Edo Queens in the CAF Women’s Champions League semifinal on Tuesday, ending the Nigerian side’s hopes of lifting the title.
Edo Queens took the lead in the 65th minute through Peace Essien after a goalless first half, but TP Mazembe equalized in the 90th minute via Merveille Kanjinga, pushing the game into extra time.
In the additional period, a Comfort Folorunsho own goal in the 101st minute gave Mazembe the lead, before Marlene Kasaj converted a penalty to seal the result.
Edo Queens will face either Egypt’s FC Masar or Morocco’s AS FAR in the third-place playoff on November 22.
