Argentina v Benin: Lionel Messi starts in likely farewell at Monumental

Lionel Messi has been named in Argentina’s starting line-up to face Benin at the Monumental de Buenos Aires, as the number 10 prepares to say goodbye to his home supporters after more than 20 years.

Lionel Scaloni has selected Messi from the beginning and included several of the players who helped Argentina win the World Cup. The official line-ups confirm the captain’s involvement in what is expected to be an emotional appearance in front of the home crowd.

Benin have made one change to the starting side used during the first two matchdays of the qualifiers. Liam Omore comes into the XI, replacing Charlemagne Azongnitode.
