Musab Al Juwayr turns down media interviews during Saudi Arabia’s Gulf Cup celebrations

Musab Al Juwayr joined Saudi Arabia’s celebrations after their 2-0 victory over the United Arab Emirates in the final of the Arabian Gulf Cup “Gulf 27” – but refused to speak to the media.

The Al Qadsiah midfielder was not included in Saudi Arabia’s squad for the tournament after being removed from the team’s training camp for disciplinary reasons before the competition began.

Despite his absence from the squad, Al Juwayr attended the matches from the stands to support his team-mates as Saudi Arabia progressed towards the title.

After the final whistle and the presentation of the trophy, he came on to the pitch alongside the players and coaching staff to take part in the celebrations. He was also seen holding the Saudi Arabian flag among the players and supporters.

However, his presence during the trophy celebrations drew attention for a different reason. Al Juwayr firmly declined requests from media organisations seeking comments from him on the pitch.

Footage showed the Al Qadsiah player avoiding the cameras and refusing to make a media appearance while his team-mates celebrated the title and spoke to reporters.

The moment became one of the most notable scenes from Saudi Arabia’s celebrations after their victory over the United Arab Emirates.

A post shared by Nawaf Al-Asy on 6 October 2026 was captioned: “Musab Al Juwayr refuses to appear in the media.”
