Gary Lineker compares Fatawu Issahaku to Bukayo Saka after stunning display

Leicester City legend Gary Lineker has drawn comparisons between rising star Fatawu Issahaku and Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka after the Ghanaian’s electrifying performance in Leicester’s thrilling 3-2 comeback win against Southampton. Issahaku, just 19 years old, played a pivotal role in turning the match around after Leicester trailed 2-0 at halftime.

The Foxes found themselves in a difficult position after a disappointing first half, but a remarkable second-half resurgence saw them overturn the deficit and secure a crucial victory.

At the heart of Leicester’s fightback was Issahaku, whose dynamic and skillful display caught the attention of many, including Lineker, who praised the young winger’s impact.

“I’ve watched him a lot. I saw him last season when he was on loan, and the kid’s really special,” Lineker remarked during an episode of  Match of the Day.

He’ll beat people, he’s quick, he’ll take people on, he’ll cut inside and bend one in the top corner, or he’ll go down the outside and cross the ball.

He’s a little like Saka in that way.”

The comparison to Bukayo Saka, who has established himself as one of the Premier League’s most exciting talents, speaks volumes about Issahaku’s potential.

While Lineker acknowledged the young Ghanaian’s talent, he was careful not to overstate the comparison at this early stage of Issahaku’s career.

“I’m not going to say he’s as good as Saka—at least not yet—but he’s only 19.

He’s got an incredible work ethic, a lovely personality, and he’s a real character.

Everyone at Leicester knows that,” Lineker added.

Issahaku’s performance against Southampton was a testament to his growing influence within the team.

His pace, technical ability, and willingness to take on defenders made him a constant threat throughout the match, contributing significantly to Leicester’s revival.

The Ghanaian’s display underscored why many at the club and beyond are excited about his future.

The victory also highlighted Issahaku’s importance to Leicester this season.

As the Foxes continue their campaign, his versatility and flair are expected to play a crucial role in their pursuit of success.

Whether cutting inside to take shots on goal or stretching the opposition with his speed on the wings, Issahaku is proving to be a key figure in Enzo Maresca’s side.

With this kind of praise from a Leicester icon like Lineker, Fatawu Issahaku’s stock continues to rise.

As he develops and gains more experience, the young winger could well become one of the standout stars of the Premier League, following in the footsteps of players like Bukayo Saka.

For now, though, the teenager remains focused on helping his team climb the table while showing flashes of brilliance along the way.
