The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially appointed Malian referee Boubou Traore to oversee Algeria’s crucial Africa Cup of Nations 2025 qualifier against Togo on October 10. The match, set to take place in Annaba, will mark the third round of qualifiers in Group E.

Traore will be supported by a team of officials from Mali, with Modibo Samaké and Amadou Billy serving as assistant referees, while Richard Kamaté takes on the role of fourth official.

The selection of Traore and his team highlights CAF’s commitment to ensuring that the game is officiated by a highly experienced and neutral team.

The stakes are high for both sides in this fixture. Algeria currently leads Group E, but Togo, positioned just behind them in second place, will be looking to close the gap with a strong performance.

Both teams have everything to play for as they continue their campaigns to secure qualification for the prestigious tournament.

Algeria, known for its strong footballing tradition, will look to capitalize on home advantage at the 52,000-seat Annaba Stadium.

The Fennecs have been in fine form throughout the qualifiers and will aim to maintain their lead at the top of the group.

Led by a mix of seasoned stars and emerging talents, Algeria’s squad has been impressive, and they will be eager to solidify their place at the top of the standings with a victory over Togo.

For the Eperviers of Togo, the match represents an opportunity to make a statement. Although they trail Algeria, a win would significantly boost their chances of progressing to AFCON 2025.

Togo’s squad, which includes several talented players, will need to put in a disciplined and determined performance to challenge the group leaders on their home turf.

The match in Annaba is just the first of two encounters between the teams, with the reverse fixture scheduled to take place a few days later at the Kégué Stadium in Lomé, Togo.

These back-to-back matches will likely play a pivotal role in determining which team emerges as the frontrunner in Group E.

As anticipation builds for the October 10 showdown, all eyes will be on referee Boubou Traore and his team to ensure fair play and accurate officiating in what promises to be a highly competitive match between two of Africa’s top footballing nations.
