Egyptian giants Zamalek SC are on the verge of signing 22-year-old Palestinian striker Omar Faraj from Sweden’s AIK, AfricaSoccer.com can report
Faraj, born in Stockholm to Palestinian parents, began his football journey with IF Brommapojkarna in Sweden before moving to Spain’s Levante in 2021.
While in Spain, he primarily played for the B team but managed to make a single appearance for the first team in a La Liga match against Rayo Vallecano in May 2022.
In search of more playing time, Faraj returned to Sweden, joining top-tier club Degerfors IF on loan before making a permanent move to AIK in 2023.
During his time at AIK, he scored seven goals in 41 appearances, showcasing his potential as a forward.
This season, Faraj has contributed one goal and two assists in 13 games for AIK, helping the team secure the fifth spot on the Allsvenskan league table.
Faraj recently switched his international allegiance from Sweden to Palestine, making his debut in the World Cup qualifiers, where he played a crucial role in helping Palestine advance to the third round and secure a spot in the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.
Faraj is expected to join Zamalek after completing his international duties this week.
