Franco-Togolese defender Lilian Brassier has chosen to join Olympique Marseille in the French Ligue 1, spurning offers from Bournemouth and Wolfsburg.

According to L’Équipe, Brassier has agreed to a five-year contract with Marseille in the transfer and will sign upon completion of the documentation in the coming days.

While personal terms have been agreed upon, a transfer fee has yet to be settled between Stade Brest and Marseille.

However, negotiations are expected to accelerate, with a reported fee of around 10 million Euros. Brassier’s decision to join Marseille solidifies his desire to continue his career in Ligue 1.

Once the transfer is complete, Brassier will embark on a new chapter in his career, playing for the esteemed Marseille club.

The 24-year-old central defender had a decent campaign in the past season, making 30 appearances in the French Ligue 1 and scoring three goals.

Brassier joined Brest in a permanent deal in July 2021 from Stade Rennes after a successful loan spell.

Having previously represented France at the U19 and U20 levels, Brassier is eligible to play for Togo and Guadeloupe internationally.
