Nikolas Nartey makes VfB Stuttgart comeback against Bayer Leverkusen
Nikolas Nartey has returned to competitive action for VfB Stuttgart after coming off the bench in Saturday’s Bundesliga encounter against Bayer 04 Leverkusen.
The 26-year-old Danish midfielder was introduced in the 72nd minute, marking his return after suffering another setback with muscular problems.
Nartey had recently worked his way back into team training and was included in Stuttgart’s matchday squad for their UEFA Champions League meeting against Atlético Madrid, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
However, his comeback was briefly delayed by another fitness setback, forcing him to miss subsequent action.
The midfielder returned to the squad for Wednesday’s DFB-Pokal encounter against SC Paderborn, although he remained an unused substitute in Stuttgart’s 1-0 victory.
He finally got the opportunity to return to the pitch against Leverkusen, with head coach Sebastian Hoeneß gradually reintegrating him into the team.
Nartey’s return represents an encouraging development for Stuttgart, particularly given his versatility and ability to operate in different midfield positions.
The midfielder will now hope to build on his appearance against Leverkusen, regain match fitness and establish himself as a regular option for Hoeneß as the season progresses.
His return also provides Stuttgart with additional depth as they continue competing across domestic and European competitions.
