Al Ahly SC of Egypt has triumphed in the CAF Champions League, securing their 12th title with a narrow 1-0 victory over Tunisia’s Esperance Sportive de Tunis.
The decisive match took place on Saturday at the iconic Cairo International Stadium, filled to capacity with passionate fans.
The only goal of the match came early, in the fourth minute, courtesy of an own goal by Esperance’s defender Roger Aholou. This early setback proved insurmountable for the Tunisian side, despite their efforts to equalize throughout the remainder of the match.
This victory marks a significant achievement for Al Ahly, enhancing their illustrious history in African football. Known as the “Club of the Century,” Al Ahly has now accumulated 151 titles over their 117-year history, reinforcing their status as one of the most successful football clubs in the world.
