The Royal Moroccan Football Federation has ended the tenure of Spanish coach Sara Merino, who has been in charge of coaching the national women’s football team since 2023.
The federation announced the appointment of national coach Adel Essaih to succeed her, taking over the interim coaching duties of the women’s team.
This decision comes amid discussions about the appointment following the non-renewal of the contract of former Spanish coach Sara Merino, due to disagreements over certain terms of the new contract.
Adel Essaih, who currently serves as the coach of the national under-23 team, will temporarily assume the responsibility of coaching the senior women’s team while retaining his position as the coach of the under-23 team, pending the appointment of a new coach for the senior women’s team.
