The race to host the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup is heating up, with five countries expressing interest in the prestigious competition. South Africa is among the candidates, alongside strong contenders such as England, France, South Korea, and New Zealand. This marks another significant opportunity for Africa to host a major FIFA competition, as the continent hosted the Men’s World Cup in 2010 and will be hosting the Women’s Under-20 World Cup.
The deadline for submitting all signed bid documents is October 31, 2014, with the final decision on the host country to be made in 2015 by the FIFA Executive Committee.
It’s an exciting time for African football, as the country will be competing for this opportunity against some of the most established football nations in the world.
