Veteran forward Zouhair El Moutaraji has completed a return to Wydad Athletic Club, signing a three-year contract with the Moroccan giants.

The move reportedly came on the personal recommendation of Wydad coach Mohamed Amine Benhachem, who sees El Moutaraji as a key piece in his revamped squad.

Following the departure of several experienced players, Benhachem believes the striker’s return, alongside South African forward Lorch, will form a formidable attacking duo with substantial African competition experience.

Wydad’s recent qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup is said to have played a pivotal role in securing El Moutaraji’s comeback, as the club aims to reclaim its continental prestige and contend for the title in the upcoming season.

For El Moutaraji, the return presents both a professional and personal milestone. With nine goals already to his name in African competitions, he is just three strikes away from becoming Wydad’s all-time leading scorer in continental tournaments—a record currently held jointly by Yahya Jabrane and Congolese Fabrice Ondama.

The Moroccan forward sees this as a fresh incentive to shine and leave a lasting mark on the club’s history.
