Zed FC proved their resilience once again after battling to a 1-1 draw with Smouha on Thursday evening at the Borg El Arab Stadium in Alexandria.
The newcomers showed character, holding their ground against a determined home side to protect their unbeaten run in the Egyptian League.
Nigerian forward Samuel Amadi gave Smouha the perfect start, breaking the deadlock in the 10th minute with a sharp finish. But Zed responded swiftly through Mostafa Saad Messi, who struck in the 27th minute to level the game and silence the crowd.
The match carried plenty of rivalry, though the second half lacked clear chances. Smouha coach Ahmed Abdel Aziz turned to his bench, introducing Abdo Yehia and Mohamed Saeed in search of a late winner, but Zed’s defense held firm under pressure.
Smouha collected their third straight draw, moving to three points and sitting 13th in the table. Zed’s five-point tally keeps them in third place under coach Mohamed Shawky, who continues to guide the club away from their first defeat of the campaign.
