ZED FC dismisses Mata Magassa Al Ahly links

ZED FC assistant coach Mohamed Samir has dismissed reports linking rising star Mata Magassa with a move to Egyptian giants Al Ahly SC, insisting that no negotiations have taken place ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 21-year-old midfielder has been linked with a potential move to the Egyptian giants following a standout campaign with ZED FC.

Speaking in an interview on the Modern Sport programme, Samir clarified that the club has not received any formal approach from Al Ahly for the midfielder, who has been one of ZED FC’s standout performers this season.

“Al Ahly did not negotiate for Mata Magassa. He is one of our most important players and is having a very strong season,” Samir stated.

The assistant coach, however, acknowledged that interest in the player is expected to grow in the coming months, given his rapid development and potential.

“We expect offers to come for Magassa. The player himself is open to going professional abroad. At 21, his ambition is to play in Europe,” he added.

Samir also highlighted ZED FC’s broader philosophy of supporting player development and facilitating moves abroad, even when financial returns are modest.

“The club’s vision is to allow any player to move to Europe if the opportunity comes, even if the financial compensation is not very high. For us, seeing our players succeed in Europe is more important,” he explained.

He added that while no local offers have been tabled for Magassa at the moment, the expectation is that the midfielder could leave either domestically or internationally in the near future due to his strong performances.

“There are no local offers right now, but we expect him to move to another club soon, either inside Egypt or abroad. He is a very promising player,” Samir said.

Samir also addressed the future of Ahmed Khaled Kabaka, the midfielder currently on loan from Al Ahly, revealing that the Egyptian champions previously attempted to recall him during the January transfer window.

“Al Ahly requested to bring Kabaka back last January, but the player preferred to stay with us after discussions with the club,” Samir explained.

He noted that Kabaka’s decision was influenced by his desire for regular playing time at ZED FC.

“He is a starter here and understands that returning to Al Ahly mid-season could limit his minutes. He knows his development matters most right now,” he added.

“If he returns to Al Ahly next season, he will be a strong addition. He knows the value of the shirt and what it means to play for the club,” he concluded.

ZED FC’s reputation as a developing hub for young talent continues to grow, with Magassa’s rise further strengthening the club’s position as one of the most closely watched sides in the Egyptian Premier League’s emerging talent pipeline.

For now, though, the club insists the focus remains on the pitch—despite increasing transfer speculation surrounding its brightest prospects.
