Reports indicate that a Zambian player has broken the record for the most expensive transfer in women’s football history.
According to the Spanish newspaper “Marca,” Rachel Kundananji moved to the US-based club “Bay F.C.” from “Madrid CFF” for €735,000 ($787,000).
This deal surpasses the previous record for the most expensive transfer in women’s football, with the player’s contract also including bonuses worth €70,000.
A member of the Zambian national team, Kundananji joined “Bay F.C.” on a four-year contract, with the option to extend for a fifth season.
Neither the American nor the Spanish club disclosed the transfer fee when announcing the deal officially.
Previously, English midfielder Kiera Walsh held the record for the most expensive transfer in women’s football, moving from Manchester City to Barcelona in 2022 for €470,000.
