The news of the day is the departure of Hervé Renard from his position as the coach of Zambia’s national football team, the Chipolopolo. The announcement was made by the Zambia Football Association (FAZ), stating that Renard has been released from his duties as the national team coach.
According to the FAZ statement, Hervé Renard was offered an attractive opportunity at FC Sochaux in the French championship, and it appears that he is heading towards the club. This comes after reports yesterday suggested Renard’s refusal to join Sochaux.
Hervé Renard had been at the helm of Zambia since 2011, achieving notable success by winning the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN). However, subsequent challenges, including the team’s failure in the group stage of the 2013 CAN, elimination from the 2014 World Cup, and the 2014 CHAN, likely contributed to his departure. Renard had hinted at his departure in July 2023. Additionally, he has reportedly attracted interest from Fegafoot (Gabonese Football Federation).
