Zambia head coach Avram Grant is rooting for Morocco international Achraf Hakimi to clinch this year’s Ballon d’Or award following a standout campaign.
Hakimi played a pivotal role during the 2024/25 season, helping Paris Saint Germain to annex treble at the end of the campaign.
The former Real Madrid and Inter Milan right-back produced 11 goals and several assists as the French giants secured the Champions League, Coup de France and the Ligue 1 title last season.
Hakimi is among the nominees for the prestigious award, with the winner due to be announced at a glittering ceremony on Monday, September 22 at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris, France.
He joins either other players from Paris Saint Germain to have made the shortlist for the Ballon d’Or released last week.
However, the former Chelsea and Black Stars tactician has thrown his weight behind Hakimi to secure the Ballon d’Or award considering his performance last season.
According to Grant, Hakimi’s contribution to the French outfit speaks volume in the Ballon d’Or race, while describing as the best right back globally.
“Achraf Hakimi deserves the Ballon d’Or, and Real Madrid will miss their former player. He is the best right back in the world.” He said.
Meanwhile, Hakimi’s teammate Ousmane Dembele has been tipped as the clear favourite to annex the Ballon d’Or accolade.
The Morocco international was involved when PSG triumphed over Tottenham Hotspurs on penalties to annex the UEFA Super Cup title on Wednesday in Italy.
