Zamalek’s winless run continues after National Bank draw

Zamalek extended their streak without a win, drawing 1-1 with National Bank in Cairo during the twelfth round of the Egyptian Premier League.

Osama Faisal opened the scoring for National Bank with a penalty in the 30th minute. Just three minutes later, Chico Banza equalized for Zamalek after a scramble in front of the net.

Under coach Yannick Ferreira, Zamalek now sits fourth with 19 points, five wins, four draws, and two losses. National Bank, led by Ayman Ramadan, earned their 15th point and climbed to ninth place.

Zamalek dominated the first half, pressing aggressively and showing flashes of skill from Banza and Nasser Maher. But defensive mistakes and strong keeping by National Bank’s Mahmoud El-Balawti kept the match tense. The second half was similar: Zamalek controlled possession, made attacking changes, and came close to scoring, but couldn’t find a winner.

Speculation swirls around Ferreira’s future as head coach. Some board members support his continued project, while others call for urgent change. The next few matches could be crucial for his position. Sporting director John Edward remains confident: “We believe in Ferrera, despite criticism. He still has time to fix things.”
