Zamalek is tackling the fallout from the recent summit match controversy with determination.
On Tuesday, the Zamalek Board, led by Hussein Labib, fired off an official letter to Eng. Yasser Idris, Chairman of the Egyptian Olympic Committee, demanding action.
The highly anticipated clash with Al Ahly, set for Cairo International Stadium in the Premier League’s crowning stage, never kicked off. Al Ahly skipped the game, protesting the Egyptian Federation’s refusal to bring in a foreign referee and sticking with an Egyptian crew instead.
Zamalek isn’t backing down.
“We are fully committed to making sure the White Castle have everything they need to succeed,” Labib stated, repurposing a quote to underline their resolve in this fight.
The club’s letter to the Olympic Committee urged intervention in the complaint tied to the March 11, 2025, match, asserting their direct stake in the matter. Backed by a legal memorandum from Dr. Kamal Shuaib, Zamalek also sent two fiery letters to the Egyptian Football Association and the Egyptian Professional Clubs Association, challenging penalties outlined in the Club Association’s recent decision.
