Zamalek’s management is racing against time to appoint a new head coach and has entered serious negotiations with Brazilian tactician Rogerio Micale, the former coach of Egypt’s Olympic team.
Club sources told Kooora that the board is working hard to convince him to lower his financial demands so that his monthly salary stays below 45,000 dollars.
The administration’s plan is to keep the current Egyptian backroom staff in their roles, while allowing Micale to bring only one or two foreign assistants. This approach aims to maintain harmony inside the dressing room and reduce overall costs at the same time.
A partial financial breakthrough has eased the path toward an agreement, after several Zamalek-supporting businessmen offered to cover the full salary package of the new foreign coach and his assistants. Their initiative is designed to relieve pressure on the club’s strained budget and give the board more freedom during negotiations.
Zamalek started the season with Belgian coach Yannick Ferrera, who was sacked in November, before young Egyptian coach Ahmed Abdel Raouf took over on an interim basis and recently announced his departure.
