FIFA has lifted the transfer ban it placed on Egyptian club Zamalek SC after the club settled financial issues with former striker Khalid Boutaib and coach Jaime Pacheco.
The world football governing body announced the development on Thursday evening, confirming that Zamalek had been removed from the list of clubs facing a registration ban.
The decision comes after the club settled outstanding payments owed to both the Moroccan forward and the Portuguese manager.
On Wednesday, Zamalek received a letter from Jaime Pacheco’s legal representative confirming that all of the coach’s financial dues had been paid in full.
Despite the lift on Zamalek’s sanction, several Egyptian clubs remain under registration bans, including Farco, Pyramids, Ismaily, Aswan, Eastern Company, ENPPI, and Wadi Degla.
Zamalek currently sits third in the Egyptian Premier League’s championship phase with 41 points.
The club will hope to take advantage of the lifting of the transfer ban to bring in new players to augment their squad in the next window.
