Egyptian giants Zamalek are on the verge of securing the signing of promising Moroccan talent Abdelhamid Maali from Ittihad Tangier in the current transfer window.
The two clubs have reportedly agreed on a $500,000 deal, with Maali having given his consent to join the White Knights.
At just 19 years old, Maali has impressed with his pace, left-footed finesse, and individual skill, initially shining at Wydad Tangier before moving to Ittihad Tangier’s academy.
After four years in their youth setup, he signed his first professional contract in 2022.
Maali made his Moroccan top-flight debut on October 7, 2023, facing off against Wydad Casablanca.
His rise followed standout performances with Morocco’s U-17 national team, where he helped the side reach the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations for Juniors in Algeria.
He also featured prominently at the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup, playing all five matches and registering three assists.
In the 2023-2024 season, Maali appeared in 15 official matches for Ittihad Tangier. He increased his involvement in the 2024-2025 campaign, featuring in 29 games and scoring twice.
Tragically, Maali survived a yacht accident in July 2024 that claimed the life of his teammate Abdellatif Akhrif. Rescued by the Royal Moroccan Navy, Maali emerged from the incident unharmed.
Zamalek’s pursuit of Maali signals their ambition to bolster their squad with young, dynamic talent ahead of the new season.
