Amr Adham, a board member of Zamalek, shed light on the club’s concerted efforts to overcome the impediments and the anticipated official communication from FIFA.
During an interview on Zamalek’s channel, Adham clarified the intricate web of challenges that the club faced, stating, “Upon assuming the club’s management, we were confronted with 14 different cases lodged against us at FIFA and international sports tribunals.
The most notable among them was the prolonged dispute with Sporting Lisbon of Portugal, spanning seven years and resulting in a registration freeze.”
He further elucidated, “Any financial verdict issued by FIFA mandates a settlement within 45 days; failure to comply leads to a suspension from registering new players.
We have successfully settled 90% of the incurred fines and repercussions, rendering Zamalek free from any restrictions or penalties.”
Addressing the audience, Adham assured, “Zamalek supporters need not worry; we are diligently working to bring joy and success to the club.
I urge them to be patient and maintain confidence in the board of directors.
We will not let down our fans or the general assembly of the club.”
The official club statement declared, “Following arduous negotiations, lasting a considerable period and incurring substantial costs, the Zamalek Board, led by Chairman Hussein Labib, has successfully resolved all 14 cases that led to the football team’s registration suspension.”
It continued, “The board has fully remitted all required amounts to the concerned parties, whether fines, overdue payments, or any other outstanding claims.
We now await the official letter from FIFA confirming the settlement of the cases and lifting the registration suspension on Zamalek, expected to arrive next Monday.”
The statement concluded with gratitude towards the steadfast fans and a promise to continue addressing the remaining issues in alignment with the club’s historic stature, aiming to return to the pinnacle of Middle Eastern and African football.
With this resolution, Zamalek is now poised to conduct new player acquisitions during the ongoing winter transfer window, marking a significant step forward for the club.
