Zamalek pushes for packed stands in Egyptian Cup final showdown
Zamalek is pushing for a full-house advantage as they gear up for the Egyptian Cup final against Pyramids on June 5 at Cairo International Stadium.
The club’s board has officially requested the Egyptian Football Association to approve full-capacity attendance for the high-stakes clash.
In a formal letter to the EFA, Zamalek stressed the importance of fan presence, highlighting the role supporters play in motivating the team on big occasions. “The match is important and therefore requests the support of its fans and the approval of full capacity attendance in order to support the team,” the club wrote.
Wednesday’s board meeting also tackled the sporting department’s structure. After internal discussions, the club named John Edward as their top choice to take over as sporting director. Edward, who brings notable experience from his time at Pharco, is expected to step in once final details are ironed out.
The club plans to make an official announcement after the final, assuming all terms with Edward are agreed. For now, the focus is on filling the stadium and lifting the cup.
