Zamalek have taken their fight over the controversial summit clash with Al Ahly beyond Egyptian football.
The club revealed Thursday that it will appeal the Egyptian Football Association’s decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), stepping up its push for justice after what it calls a clear mishandling of regulations.
In a statement, Zamalek insisted it was entitled to full points after Al Ahly withdrew from the match. The club argues that six points should be deducted from their rivals, three for the withdrawal and three more as a penalty, alongside a 3-0 win awarded to Zamalek.
“The board has decided to file a complaint to the International Sports Court to obtain the club’s full rights and the correct application of the regulations regarding the last summit match, which witnessed a full withdrawal from the opposing team.”
Zamalek further slammed the committee’s stance as unfair, saying it undermines equal opportunity and sports integrity.
The club’s action follows the EFA’s decision to reject appeals from Al Ahly, Zamalek, and Pyramids over recent disciplinary rulings.
