Zamalek’s management is awaiting the return of Moroccan left-back Mahmoud Bentayg from his trip to Thailand to hold a decisive meeting aimed at convincing him to withdraw his decision to terminate his contract with the club.
The club hopes this direct dialogue will calm the situation and open a new chapter with the player, especially given the shortage in the left-back position.
A source close to Bentayg told Kooora that the player is not completely against staying at Zamalek but has set clear conditions for his return. At the top of these conditions is the full payment of his overdue financial dues, along with firm guarantees that salary delays will not be repeated in the future.
Bentayg’s flexibility comes despite serious interest from Raja Casablanca, which is closely monitoring developments and is ready to bring him back if talks with Zamalek collapse. The relationship between player and club had recently deteriorated after Bentayg officially informed Zamalek that he was unilaterally terminating his contract, relying on international regulations that allow this step when salaries are unpaid for more than three consecutive months.
Zamalek’s board is now trying to capitalize on the player’s willingness to continue, provided the club meets its financial obligations, which remain the only real obstacle to closing this complex file once and for all.
