Ahmed Salem, the official spokesperson for Zamalek’s board of directors, emphasized the difficulty of postponing the White Knights’ match against Académie SOAR in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Speaking on ON Time Sports 2, Salem stated, “What is happening with Zamalek currently is natural and expected, and what has been achieved in the past period is a credit to Zamalek’s board of directors.”
He continued, “Zamalek’s travel schedule to Saudi Arabia remains unchanged for Monday, and it is impossible to postpone the match against Académie SOAR in the Confederation Cup.”
“If the match were at a regular time, it would have been possible to discuss the possibility of postponement,” he added.
Salem stressed, “If Académie SOAR’s team plane does not arrive on time before the match, we will start thinking about what will happen and the fate of the confrontation, adhering to the regulations of the African Union.”
He concluded his statements, saying, “Jose Gomez’s report will determine the renewal status of some players, and the coach is no longer compiling a list of those leaving the team as he is still getting to know the group of players.”
A source from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) revealed that Académie SOAR from Guinea had requested a postponement of their match against Zamalek.
Zamalek is scheduled to play against Académie SOAR this evening – Sunday – at 6 p.m. at Cairo International Stadium.
This comes in the final round of the group stage in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Zamalek has secured the top spot in Group C of the CAF Confederation Cup with 13 points.
Abu Salim from Libya secured qualification alongside Zamalek in second place with 9 points.
Meanwhile, Sagrada from Angola occupies third place with 5 points, with Académie SOAR at the bottom of the group with just one point.
