Zamalek lose top target Zineddine Belaid to Qatari outfit Al-Wakra
Egyptian outfit Zamalek are set to miss out on their top target Zineddine Belaid as Qatari club Al-Wakra closes in on a move this summer.
The 26-year-old, who plies his trade for Belgian club Sint-Truidense has been a long-term target for clubs in Africa particularly, Zamalek and Al Ahly.
According to reports, Al-Wakra have won the race to secure the signature of the Algerian defender, with Belaid set to undergo medical to seal the move.
Despite opening negotiation with Zamalek, Al-Wakra appears to have secured the signature of the highly-rated defender.
Zamalek are seeking to augment their squad for the new campaign following an inconsistent performance in the recently concluded campaign.
Having missed out on the Algerian defender, the Egyptian outfit will have to turn other alternatives.
Zineddine Belaid has nine appearances for the Algeria national team since making his debut on January 2023.
