Zamalek’s struggle to secure its future has taken another twist, as the club faces a storm over its land in 6th of October City.
The legal advisor of the club, Kamal Shoaib, revealed that former president Mortada Mansour continues to cast a shadow over the situation, saying Mansour acted with a “scorched earth” policy before leaving office.
Shoaib explained that the Ministry of Housing’s decision to expropriate the land despite ongoing construction has created a huge setback. He said, “Everyone knows that the decision to expropriate the land will have serious repercussions for Zamalek’s stability.”
He stressed that the current board is working hand in hand with the Ministry of Housing to find a solution, insisting that all procedures taken by Zamalek were proper.
“During the board’s meeting with the Minister of Housing, a clear message was conveyed that the decision to expropriate the land would lead to a disaster that could threaten the club’s continuity,” Shoaib added.
He also revealed that Mansour left behind debts exceeding 2.5 billion pounds, along with unresolved salary and business issues.
