Zamalek SC has officially warned the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) that it will escalate matters to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) if officiating injustices against the club continue.
In a strongly worded letter to EFA President Hani Aburaida, the club expressed frustration over what it claims are repeated referee errors that have directly impacted its standing in the Egyptian Premier League. Currently, Pyramids FC leads the table with 42 points, followed by Al Ahly with 39, while Zamalek trails in third with 32 points.
“It is unacceptable that Zamalek continues to suffer from refereeing mistakes without any action from the EFA’s board of directors to hold the Referees Committee accountable,” the statement read.
The club also demanded that match officials who have made controversial calls against them this season be barred from officiating their future games in the league, Egypt Cup, and Egypt Capital Cup.
With the arrival of foreign expert Oscar Julian Ruiz as head of the Referees Committee, Zamalek urged for fairer officiating, warning that if their concerns remain unaddressed, they will have no choice but to take legal action beyond Egypt’s football governing bodies.
