Zamalek fans protest Coca-Cola sponsorship deal
During the final match of the Egyptian Super Cup against archrival Al Ahly, fans of Zamalek Football Club expressed their discontent over reports of the club’s negotiations with the American beverage company Coca-Cola for potential sponsorship.
Chanting slogans such as “We don’t want the drink of blood… in boycott… we persist,” Zamalek supporters voiced their opposition to the potential partnership during the intense match.
Coca-Cola, an American multinational corporation, has found itself among the companies targeted by popular boycott campaigns due to its perceived support for Washington’s backing of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.
Egypt stands as one of the Arab countries most committed to popular boycott efforts and has introduced dozens of alternative products since last October.
The match, marked by chants against Coca-Cola, witnessed Zamalek’s defeat against Al Ahly with a score of one to three.
