Egyptian giants Zamalek SC are reportedly close to securing the services of South African forward Percy Tau, contingent on the appointment of a new head coach.
Tau, who recently parted ways with Qatari outfit Qatar SC following a short stint, has emerged as a top target for Zamalek ahead of the 2025/26 season.
The 30-year-old joined the Qatari side in January from Al Ahly, spending just six months in the Gulf before deciding to move on.
His departure has sparked strong interest from both Zamalek and newly crowned CAF Champions League winners Pyramids FC.
According to Egyptian outlet Elbalad, Zamalek are keen to bring in Tau as a replacement for outgoing star Ahmed Sayed “Zizo,” who recently left the club. However, any potential deal hinges on the club naming a new head coach.
The Cairo-based side is actively searching for a successor to Portuguese tactician Jose Peseiro.
Among the frontrunners for the role is Pitso Mosimane, Tau’s former coach at Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly, who is reportedly being seriously considered by the club’s hierarchy.
