Zamalek enforces discipline after victory over Ceramica Cleopatra
Zamalek’s strong start to the Egyptian League was matched by a firm stance on discipline after their 2-0 win against Ceramica Cleopatra on Friday night.
A club source confirmed that midfielder Chico Banza has been handed a financial penalty for his reaction to being substituted in the 66th minute by coach Yannick Ferreira.
The Angolan international appeared frustrated as he left the pitch, heading straight to the bench without shaking hands with the coaching staff or teammates. His protests did not go unnoticed by the technical team or the club’s management.
While Banza later apologized for his actions, Zamalek opted to apply its internal regulations and enforce the fine, reinforcing the importance of respect and professionalism within the squad.
Banza, who arrived this summer from Portuguese side Estrela da Amadora on a four-year deal, had been seen as a key addition to the White Castle’s midfield. Despite the incident, fans will hope the matter is now settled and that the midfielder can channel his energy into helping Zamalek maintain their winning momentum.
