Zamalek deny Hossam El Zanaty has signed to become sporting director

Zamalek have denied that Hossam El Zanaty has officially signed an agreement to become the club’s sporting director.

El Zanaty, currently assistant sporting director at Danish club FC Nordsjælland, has held recent discussions with Zamalek about taking up the role, but a deal has not yet been completed.

A source at Zamalek told FilGoal.com: “There is no truth to reports that Hossam El Zanaty has officially signed to become sporting director.”

The source added: “Some details of the contract have not been settled, whether regarding its duration or the powers that would come with the position.”

However, negotiations are progressing positively, with both sides keen to work together.

“The latest meetings with El Zanaty are moving in the right direction, given the shared desire of both parties to cooperate,” the source said.

Zamalek have also rejected reports claiming El Zanaty wants head coach Moatamed Gamal to leave his position.

The source said: “What has been reported about Hossam El Zanaty wanting Moatamed Gamal to leave his role as head coach is incorrect. El Zanaty is one of his biggest supporters and attended the El Sharqia-Enppi friendly to support the team.”

They added: “These methods and the circulation of this type of news are a cheap attempt to influence the team before their league match against Al Ahly, and Zamalek will not remain silent in the face of these rumours.”

El Zanaty attended the friendly, which ended in a 2-1 victory for Enppi.

Zamalek are preparing to face Zed on Wednesday in the opening round of the Egypt Capital Cup.

They will then meet Al Ahly on Sunday in the sixth round of the Egyptian Premier League.
