The board of Zamalek, led by President Hussein Labib, is contemplating the sale of at least five players during the ongoing January transfer window.
This decision stems from the severe criticism the players faced from Zamalek’s supporters in recent months during both local and African matches.
A source within the Zamalek club informed Gate News this Wednesday evening that the players targeted for sale in the coming days include Mohamed Ashraf Roqa, Amr El-Sisi, Mostafa El Zanaty, Samson Akinola, and Abdullah Gomaa.
Notably, defender Mohamed Abdelghani has already departed for a final sale in the past hours, having been a subject of vehement criticism from Zamalek’s fans in every match.
It is noteworthy that the first football team at Zamalek is currently under the interim coaching of Moataz Gamal until the board reaches an agreement with a new foreign coach to guide the team for the remainder of the season, both domestically and in the African Confederation Cup.
The decision to sell these players reflects the club’s response to the discontent expressed by Zamalek’s passionate fanbase.
The criticism has escalated over the past months due to perceived underperformance in various competitions.
Zamalek, a club with a rich history and a strong fan following, faces the challenge of striking a balance between the expectations of its supporters and the need for on-field success.
As the transfer window progresses, the strategic decisions made by the management will shape the team’s trajectory in the coming months.
