Zamalek have taken a major step toward rebuilding their squad after settling a long-standing financial dispute with former head coach Jaime Pacheco.
The Cairo giants paid the Portuguese tactician €1 million on Monday, effectively lifting the transfer ban that had halted new signings.
The club, under the leadership of president Hussein Labib, had been blocked from registering new players due to outstanding payments owed to Pacheco and former striker Khaled Boutaib. Earlier, Zamalek resolved Boutaib’s case by disbursing €2.5 million in line with a ruling from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
Clearing these debts marks a turning point for Zamalek, who are eager to reinforce their squad as they push to climb the Egyptian Premier League standings. The club currently sit third with 41 points from 26 matches and hope the resolution of these legal and financial issues will restore stability both on and off the pitch.
The board’s actions show a renewed focus on discipline and structure, setting the stage for a more competitive and organized future.
