Nasser Maher, Zamalek’s talented midfielder, stepped into a tense meeting at the club’s headquarters today, hoping to clear the air with chairman Hussein Labib.
The 28-year-old was suspended yesterday by football director Abdel Wahed El-Sayed after refusing to sit on the bench during Zamalek’s clash with Haras El-Hodoud. The incident sparked a swift referral to legal affairs, leaving Maher frustrated and determined to address the situation.
“Nasser Maher requested a meeting with Hussein Labib, and the player arrived today, Monday, accompanied by his agent, Ahmed Yehia, and headed to the Zamalek president’s office,” a club source told Kooora.
“Nasser Maher is angry with the football director’s actions. He also wants to amend his contract to increase his financial compensation, so he requested a meeting with Hussein Labib,” the source added.
Maher, who’s netted one goal and provided one assist in six Egyptian Premier League matches this season, is contracted with Zamalek until June 30, 2028.
