Zamalek captain Omar Gaber eyes positive result in first leg clash against CR Belouizdad
Zamalek captain Omar Gaber says his outfit objective is to secure a positive result when they take on CR Belouizdad in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup.
The Egyptian giants will take on the Algerian outfit on Friday, April 10, in the first leg of the Confederation Cup, to be held at the Nelson Mandela Stadium.
With a place in the final at stake, anticipation is building for what promises to be a fiercely contested encounter.
At the pre-match conference, Omar Gaber expressed confidence in his team’s abilities despite the difficulty of the high-stakes match.
“All matches between Egyptian teams and Algerian clubs are tough, and we respect the opponent well, and our goal is to achieve a positive result.”
He added, “We love these matches and the pressure, and we prefer to play in front of fans, especially Zamalek fans who give a lot to the team in the matches.”
“We play for a big club with a history, and we are used to the pressure from the fans. We expect a large crowd at tomorrow’s match, and we are ready for that. Our goal is to achieve the best result in the first leg.”
The return match between Zamalek and Belouizdad will be held at Cairo Stadium on April 17.
Zamalek qualified for the Confederation Cup semi-finals by defeating Congolese champions Otoho 3-2 on aggregate in the quarter-finals.
Belouizdad qualified for the semi-finals by defeating Al-Masry of Port Said, as they drew 1-1 in the first leg in Egypt, then drew 0-0 in the second leg in Algeria, so Belouizdad qualified thanks to the away goals rule.
